How to Create a Signature Online

1. Stay on the Draw It tab and sign inside the box using your mouse, trackpad or finger.
2. Or switch to Type It, enter your name and pick a handwriting style.
3. Adjust the ink colour and pen thickness to match how you normally sign.
4. Click Download Transparent PNG to get a signature with no background.
5. Drop the PNG into Word, Google Docs, a PDF editor or your email signature.

Why choose the transparent PNG?

A transparent background means the signature sits directly on top of whatever is underneath it — a contract line, a letterhead, a coloured form. A white-background version would cover that content with a visible rectangle. The tool also crops the empty space around your signature automatically, so it scales neatly without a large invisible border.

Is a drawn signature legally valid?

In many countries an electronic signature is legally binding for most everyday agreements, under frameworks such as the ESIGN Act in the United States and eIDAS in the European Union. However, some documents — wills, certain property transfers and some court filings — still require a handwritten or notarised signature. Check the requirements for your specific document type and jurisdiction before relying on it.

Does my signature get uploaded anywhere?

No. Drawing, cropping and saving all happen inside your browser using the HTML canvas, and the file is written straight to your downloads folder. This matters more than for most tools, because a signature image is sensitive: many online signature sites store a copy on their servers, and this one has no server to store it on.

How do I get a cleaner signature on a laptop?

Signing with a trackpad rarely looks like your real signature. Two things help: increase the pen thickness to 4 or 5 pixels so small wobbles are less visible, and sign larger and slower than feels natural, since the canvas is scaled down on export. If you have a touchscreen or a phone, open this page there instead and sign with your finger.
