What is this tool?
This lorem ipsum generator creates placeholder text for mockups, wireframes, templates and tests. Set a Count and a Unit: paragraphs, sentences, words, list items, or an exact number of characters or bytes. Output can be plain text, HTML or Markdown, with optional headings and numbered lists, and Preview shows how it renders. The text updates as you change any option and Regenerate shuffles the words. Copy it or download it as a .txt, .html or .md file. The text is generated in your browser.
How to Use
- Enter a Count and choose a Unit, such as Paragraphs or Characters (exact).
- Pick Plain text, HTML or Markdown in Output format.
- Tick or untick the classic Lorem ipsum opening, headings or a numbered list.
- Press Regenerate (Ctrl+Enter) for different random words.
- Press Copy, or Download to save the text as a file.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Lorem ipsum opening add extra words?
No. The classic opening replaces the start of the text, so you still get exactly the Count you asked for.
How exact are the Characters and Bytes units?
They produce exactly that length, including any HTML or Markdown markup. Bytes are counted as UTF-8. Tick End on a whole word to avoid cutting a word, which can leave the text slightly under the count.
Can it output HTML or Markdown?
Yes. HTML wraps paragraphs in p tags, headings in h2 and list items in ul or ol. Markdown uses blank lines between paragraphs, ## headings and - or 1. list markers.
