How to Convert Text to Speech

1. Paste or type the text you want to hear into the box.
2. Pick a voice from the dropdown — the list comes from the voices installed on your device.
3. Adjust the speed slider if the default pace is too fast or slow.
4. Press Play to start listening.
5. Use Pause / Resume to stop temporarily without losing your place.

Why do I see different voices on different devices?

The tool uses the speech engine built into your operating system, so the available voices depend on your device. Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each ship their own set, and Chrome adds extra network voices on some platforms. Installing additional language packs in your system settings makes more voices appear here after a page refresh.

Can I download the audio as an MP3?

Not from this tool. Browser speech synthesis plays audio directly through the sound card and does not expose a downloadable file, and most system voices are licensed for playback only rather than redistribution. To create a shareable file you would need a server-side speech service with a licence that permits it.

Is there a length limit?

There is no hard limit here, but several browsers silently stop after roughly 200 characters in a single request. The tool works around this by splitting your text at sentence boundaries and queuing the parts, so long documents play through without cutting off mid-way.

Is my text private?

Yes for locally installed voices — the speech is generated on your own device and nothing is uploaded. Be aware that a few premium voices in Chrome are network-based, in which case the text is sent to that voice provider. Voices marked with your system language are almost always local.
